Information Graphic Visionaries series
2022 Published in Italy Professor Rich Harris, on behalf of the Quantitative Research GroupThree volumes. 20cm × 28cm.The graphic method is fundamental to the representation of special relationships, most obviously in cartographic but also in quantitative and qualitative geography and in today’s geographical data science. These books are reprints from the 19th when graphical methods were developing as both science and art. The role of female graphists in this endeavour is not always appreciated- Florence Nightingale is better known as a nurse than a statistician who used charts to show how better hygiene in hospitals would save more lives. But she, and others demonstrated that the power of the graphical method can be used for positive social change and to challenge popular perception- something that a geographer like Danny Dorling still does today.
