New foyer display: Queering Reproductive Geographies, October 2026
16th October 2026
Four of our fantastic PGRs – Yuyue Sun, Weiyi Li, Sthembiso Mkhize, and Mingcan Rong, were invited by our curators to choose provocative, interesting, and dissonant objects which enliven critical new stories and geographies of reproduction. Reproduction is not simply biological; it is organised, governed and made normative. The positioning of reproductive bodies as sites of power and governance allows us to explore what ‘queering’ reproductive geographies might mean. This edit of the Geography Teaching Cabinet is an invitation to reflect on which bodies, families, identities and lives are (un)recognised as reproductive, and what happens when we interrupt such heteronormative logic.
