Feminist and geographical zines
Unknown Unknown Professor Maria FanninA selection of feminist and geographical zines, used in the Feminist Geographies MSc unit. Zines are self-published and self-distributed magazines, whose roots can be traced to the strategies of political and social activists and movements on the margins of mainstream media. In 2024, the GEOZONe initiative (‘an archive of mischief-making zines and radical geographic print ephemera’), from which these zines were collected, launched to share zines between makers and readers from around the globe. Zine-making has also become a pedagogical tool and zines themselves a tangible and material object occupying a ‘middle-ground’ between research articles and Web-based blogs, bringing creative and often participatory forms of knowledge-making and disseminating to the fore.
